Solidigm Launches AI Storage Hub in Vancouver

Newsdesk, April 20, 2026

Solidigm has officially expanded its presence in Vancouver with the launch of a new AI SSD Platform Development Center, positioning the city as a core hub in the company’s global AI infrastructure strategy.

The announcement, shared by CEO Xin Guo, highlights Vancouver as a critical node in Solidigm’s work developing next-generation storage systems for artificial intelligence workloads. “This space is testimony of the focus of the Vancouver site team as the centerpiece of our engine for future growth,” said Guo. “We develop SSD controller platforms here to fuel our future growth.”

The site, which already employs more than 200 people, is described as the “heart” of the company’s SSD controller platform development, a key layer in enabling high-performance AI computing.

The expansion includes a facility spanning more than 50,000 square feet, supporting architecture, design, and validation of enterprise SSDs tailored for AI servers. Over the past four years, the company has also brought in more than 80 interns, underscoring its long-term investment in local talent and partnerships with Canadian universities.

Solidigm, a subsidiary of South Korea’s SK hynix, focuses on high-performance NAND storage solutions used in data centres and hyperscale environments. As AI adoption accelerates, demand for faster, more efficient data movement has become a critical constraint, elevating the role of storage alongside GPUs in modern infrastructure stacks.

By anchoring a major portion of its AI storage development in Vancouver, Solidigm is tapping into the region’s growing ecosystem of engineering talent while contributing more than $40 million annually to the local economy. The company has indicated plans to continue expanding its team, reinforcing Vancouver’s position as an emerging hub for AI infrastructure development.

The move reflects a broader shift in the AI race, where performance gains are increasingly tied not just to compute, but to the ability to move and process massive volumes of data efficiently.
