Calgary-based Enerflex has secured a contract to supply approximately 450 megawatts of natural gas-fired power generation equipment for a North American data centre developer.
The agreement covers the design, engineering, fabrication and assembly of behind-the-meter generation units, which provide power onsite. Enerflex did not identify the developer, disclose the contract value or specify the project’s location.
The equipment will be produced through Enerflex’s North American manufacturing operations, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027 and finish in 2028.
To support the order and anticipated growth, Enerflex is expanding its Engineered Systems business. Its 2026 capital spending guidance includes approximately $15 million for facilities and infrastructure supporting that business and adjacent markets, including electricity generation.
The company has also authorized approximately $85 million in additional investments in its Engineered Systems facilities and capabilities, with most of that spending expected in 2027.
The contract highlights an opportunity for Canadian energy equipment suppliers as data centre developers seek dedicated power generation. For Enerflex, the buildout of digital infrastructure is translating into demand for manufacturing capacity and gas-fired generation equipment.
