National Coalition Launches for Canada’s Data Centre Industry

Newsdesk, December 9, 2025

Today marks the launch of the Canadian Coalition for Digital Infrastructure (CCDI), a national industry-led initiative focused on advancing Canada’s rapidly expanding digital infrastructure sector.

The coalition brings together cloud providers, data centre developers, colocation operators, equipment suppliers, and other key stakeholders to create a unified voice for the industry as demand for digital infrastructure accelerates across the country.

With billions of dollars in private-sector investment expected over the next five years, Canada is entering a significant growth phase for digital infrastructure. The data centre industry already supports tens of thousands of Canadian jobs, with that number expected to grow as organizations accelerate cloud adoption, artificial intelligence, and broader digital transformation efforts.

The CCDI’s mission is to support a sustainable and competitive digital infrastructure industry in Canada. Key priorities include strengthening digital sovereignty, advancing environmental sustainability, securing energy capacity for future growth, and developing the skilled workforce needed to support the country’s digital economy.

Coalition members say world-class digital infrastructure will be critical as AI continues to reshape industries and economies. Data centres today play a foundational role in Canada’s economic development, much like railways and ports did in earlier eras.

They power the cloud services, AI systems, financial platforms, and digital tools that Canadians rely on every day. From hospitals and research institutions to small businesses and public agencies, reliable digital infrastructure has become essential to the functioning of modern society.

Through education and industry engagement, the coalition aims to raise awareness about the role digital infrastructure plays in Canada’s economy while advocating for policies that support sustainable industry growth.

The CCDI also plans to strengthen collaboration between industry, governments, utilities, and academic institutions to help Canada scale its digital capacity while remaining competitive in the global digital economy.

The launch has already been welcomed by stakeholders across the country including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Beacon AI Centers, Cologix Canada, EllisDon Corporation, Equinix, eStruxture Data Centers, Schneider Electric Canada, STACK Americas, and Vantage Data Centers

“Canada’s digital infrastructure is now a strategic national asset. This coalition gives industry a unified platform to help Canada scale responsibly, strengthen domestic capacity, attract global investment, and ensure that Canadian organizations, from startups to major public institutions, have access to the sovereign, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure they need to compete globally,” said Angela Adam, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Government Relations
eStruxture Data Centers.
